  • Resumo: Its a great little lens that is capable of delivering very nice images. It is a nice and compact size, is very sharp, and has a wide aperture. It isnt going to blow you away with how fast it focuses, but it is sufficient for most applications.

Ideal Prime Lens for an APS-C Body

  • Resumo: I took photos at a recent art exhibit and the results were great. I was able to get sharp photos with spectacular bokeh with the lens wide open. At $376, the lens is a bargain. I will be able to use it on a full-frame body, as well.

  • Resumo: This lens is so sharp and the falloff at 1.4 is incredible. Everyone should have this lens in their kit. Fantastic for portraits, food, and everything in between. Very artsy look when wide open.

Terrible Lens

  • Resumo: I am not sure if I got a bad copy, but I could not get this lens to autofocus at all. Nothing I tried produced a sharp image. Even when I manual focused an image, it came out ridiculously soft. Also, it had the worst chromatic aberration I have ever seen in a lens.

A Classic Nikon Lens

  • Resumo: I've been using Nikon equipment for over 50 years and the 50mm f/1.4 was my first lens. With the evolution to digital all of my lens are zooms. I bought this lens primarily for night street photography. It has proven to be everything I thought it would be and more.
  • Prós: Sharp Great low light performance Light weight Great price
  • Cons: Its a prime, doesn't zoom

Affordable compromise

  • Resumo: I started with the 35mm 1.8, but kept looking at the 85mm 1.4. During the search I discovered the 50mm 1.4. Since I use a D7200, I decided that saving $1,000 and getting 70mm equivalent was close enough for now. After my first photo shoot I am very pleased with the compromise.
