  • Resumo: AMD's new Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor proved to be a solid performer throughout our entire battery of benchmarks. In a handful of the tests that partially make up the PCMark Vantage suite, the 965 BE was even able to pull ahead of Intel's Core i7 920 processor.
  • Prós: Strong Performance, Good Power Consumption, Great Upgrade Path, DDR2 or DDR3 Compatible, Overclockable, Competitive Pricing, Fastest AMD CPUs to Date
  • Cons: Still Can't Quite Catch Intel's Similarly Clocked Processors

  • Conclusão: As a conclusion the AMD flagship proved to be a very competent package. The next step will be to see how well it copes against Intel's latest LGA1156 platform, but it sure made short work of the older S775-based quad core Q9450.
  • Prós: Low platform cost, Good performance, Downwards compatible with AM2+ motherboards, Low idle power usage, Easy overclocking

  • Conclusão: In mid August, we reviewed the original AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor. Aside slight updates that have been made to the processor, it is essentially the same and it's performance at default frequencies certainly reflects this.
  • Prós: Directly replaces previous 965BE at the same price point, Improved Overclocking Headroom, Consistent performance all round
